Here's an awesome #tbt for you! Back to the late 1930s when Admiral & Lewis included names like Ferguson Bakery (now home to Marjorie Atwood Fine Art), Buck Tire (now home of Gts Tulsa), Arcade Laundry & Dry Cleaning (now home to Ziegler Art & Frame), and Cox & Sons Department Store (now home to Rough House Creative). Of course, Circle Cinema was there... all of 11 years old!
Another historical note: Blakey Hardware was founded in KW in 1934 at 14 N Lewis. It was purchased by the Swinney family in 1941 and became the Swinney Hardware long-time Tulsans remember fondly. Once I-244 came through in the late 60s, Swinney Hardware moved to 2318 E Admiral Blvd, then in 1973 moved again to 32 S Lewis, where most people remember it being. But the original 14 N Lewis building is still there... it's the northernmost piece of property of Ziegler's, practically on the edge of the retaining wall above I-244. ... See MoreSee Less
