Kendall Whittier Main Street is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by Kendall Whittier merchants and property owners. We are one of 37 Main Street programs in the state of Oklahoma and 1,800 programs nationwide. KWMS is proud to be among the 760 programs to be nationally accredited by the National Main Street Center in Chicago.
Our mission is to restore Kendall Whittier as a thriving, walkable commercial district. KWMS implements the Main Street Four-Point Approach – a proven, common-sense model for addressing the issues historic commercial districts face.
During the past 5+ years, KWMS program activities have made a profound impact on Kendall Whittier.
Since January 2013, twenty-five (25) new businesses have opened in the KWMS service area, representing $12.5 million of investment and 183 jobs.
From 2012 to 2015, assessed property values in the KWMS service area increased 46.2%.
KWMS festivals, special events, and promotions attracted thousands of people from throughout Northeastern Oklahoma to Kendall Whittier.
